## About this project

It has been a month since we launched the new Borgerhoff & Lamberigts webshop. This forward-thinking publisher wanted a new **custom e‑commerce solution fully prepared for a more hybrid range of products**. This bespoke web shop also deviates from the standard approach that is typically a storefront with all possible products. We prepared the platform to integrate and mix interesting content with products, brands, services and authors. This first launch is only the beginning.

## About Borgerhoff & Lamberigts

[Borgerhoff & Lamberigts](https://www.borgerhoff-lamberigts.be/) is a Belgian publisher and production company that’s seen much vertical growth in recent years. As a book publisher, they focus on quality non-fiction authorship, and their imprint Owl Press has a strong niche in scientific and educational publications. As a digital agency, Borgerhoff & Lamberigts have taken on digital brands like [TAGMAG](https://www.bitsoflove.be/our-work/a-reimagined-user-first-digital-news-platform)(with Bits of Love!) and Nooit Meer Diëten. Finally, they produce many programmes for VRT, Eén & Canvas. This growing range of products and services asked for a new and optimized website that covers all aspects of this flourishing company.

## Challenge

Contrary to the growth in their brand and trendy products, Online sales suffered from sales performance issues on the previous platform. As a part of our elaborate discovery trajectory, we uncovered all technical and user journey obstacles. **Together we translated this new strategy to goal-driven metrics and KPI’s**. Based on these priorities, we worked on creating visual prototypes for user testing.

## Process

#### Style guide and design system

Based on only their existing logo, we created a full-fledged design system that can be extended and built upon in service of all other digital products and offerings (e.g. courses, newsletters, platforms,…) for the best possible customer experience.

#### User journey and UX  

Next to twenty-five genres and a curated bestsellers page, the website also offers a dynamic home screen that holds topicals, like Mother’s Day, into account. The efficient and integrated content management system enhances the customer experience without creating more workload for the Borgerhoff & Lamberigts team. Lastly, we thoroughly revised and optimized the check-out flow to ensure a successful conversion to e‑commerce.

## Results

#### Custom e‑commerce with Craft Commerce

We seamlessly integrated digital services, like webinars or coaching newsletters, into their website. To achieve this, we decided to replace their previous Shopify webshop with a better and more optimal [Craft Commerce webshop](https://craftcms.com/commerce). **An important reason for this decision was the more content-driven approach and adaptability of Craft Commerce.** Whereas Shopify limits us in creating additional pages, we can design and implement customized pages and content with Craft Commerce.

#### Bits of Love as an integrator

Additionally, [CB Logistics](https://www.cb.nl/) supports the new storefront thanks to a customized integration. This expert in book distribution in Belgium and the Netherlands will ensure fast book deliveries. The integrations with [Klaviyo](https://www.klaviyo.com/)and [Make](https://www.make.com/en/integromat-evolves-to-make) enable automated marketing- & sales processes on top of that.

## Conclusion  

We consider the soft launch of this brand new Borgerhoff & Lamberigts website a success as customers very positively embraced it! Additionally, their content management is 70% more efficient.

Our collaboration continues beyond the launch of this website. Bits of Love developed a **digital strategy** for Borgerhoff & Lamberigts and will continue to be their digital partner to attain set goals.
