Helping students find their career path with Voka’s Talentcenter

Challenge
Each year, about 18,000 Belgian students switch their field of study, which highlights the importance of having a reliable resource to assist students in making informed decisions about their career paths. The Talentcenter is designed to meet this challenge by offering extensive testing, conducted in collaboration with research partner UGent, to provide students with the necessary information and guidance to make informed decisions.
Solution
The partnership between Bits of Love and Voka for this project started with an in-depth research phase, where all aspects of the Talentcenter were thoroughly analyzed. Following this, Bits of Love developed a comprehensive user journey that covers every step and role in the Talentcenter’s operation, including how they are connected. This allowed us to design an optimal user experience.
We then created a digital platform that brings together all the tests tailored to the students and information gathered from students and generates insightful reports highlighting potential career options and visualizing scores. The platform’s interface is both user-friendly and intuitive, making it accessible to both students and educators. Additionally, it is visually appealing and includes features that safeguard the privacy and security of students’ data.
Results
The first pilot Talentcenter, located in Technopolis in Mechelen, opened in May 2023 for schools to visit. The second Talentcenter, located at Hogeschool PXL in Hasselt, opened in September 2023. Thanks to our scalable product design and infrastructure, by 2024, every region in Flanders has its own Talentcenter.
The Talentcenter provides students with resources to explore technical and vocational education and discover their ideal career path. It plays a crucial role in guiding students to make informed study choices and ensuring that every talent in Flanders is utilized.
