Each year, about 18,000 Belgian students switch their field of study, which highlights the importance of having a reliable resource to assist students in making informed decisions about their career paths. The Talentcenter is designed to meet this challenge by offering extensive testing, conducted in collaboration with research partner UGent, to provide students with the necessary information and guidance to make informed decisions.
Solution
The partnership between Bits of Love and Voka for this project started with an in-depth research phase, where all aspects of the Talentcenter were thoroughly analyzed. Following this, Bits of Love developed a comprehensive user journey that covers every step and role in the Talentcenter’s operation, including how they are connected. This allowed us to design an optimal user experience.
We then created a digital platform that brings together all the tests tailored to the students and information gathered from students and generates insightful reports highlighting potential career options and visualizing scores. The platform’s interface is both user-friendly and intuitive, making it accessible to both students and educators. Additionally, it is visually appealing and includes features that safeguard the privacy and security of students’ data.
Result
The first pilot Talentcenter, located in Technopolis in Mechelen, opens in May 2023 for schools to visit, and the second Talentcenter, located at Hogeschool PXL in Hasselt, will open in September. If all goes well, the project can be scaled throughout Flanders. The Talentcenter provides an innovative resource for students to explore technical and vocational education and find the right career path that suits their abilities and interests. The Talentcenter’s importance lies in its ability to direct students towards the right career path, ensuring that every talent in Flanders is utilized, and students make positive study choices.
